In Honolulu, Jeannie, promising not to attract attention, attends a press conference with Tony. The reporters learn she is wearing a scarab pin worth a fortune and headline the visiting heiress. Charles, posing as his employer, Mr. Vanderhaven, the richest man the world, arrives in a Rolls driven by Eddie. He invites Jeannie and Tony to his yacht, where Vanderhaven, a hypochondriac, is holed up in his cabin. Charles schemes to get the scarab, but Eddie worries that their boss will cut them out of his will. While Tony is working, Charles takes Jeannie to Idiot’s Cove, a worthless strip of beach generally underwater. He touts it as a site for Tony's beach house but refuses to sell it. Jeannie finds uncut diamonds Eddie has sprinkled around. Charles confides that gems wash up with the tide. As a favor to Tony, he swaps the land for the scarab.
